Can you help me with plans for my NYC vacation?

I've been reading questions asked by others and the answers you've given have put new questions in my mind.

1. What is a Metrocard? Is that a ticket for the subway?

2. Should I get advance tickets to see Wicked, Mama Mia

and Phantom of the Opera? Do they usually sell out?

3. One answer said it's hot in July -- mid 80's. Is that really as

hot as it gets? We're used to 100, so we wouldn't feel hot.

Is it humid?

4. Since I'm not sure of the temp what should we wear?

Jeans? Capri's?

5. We'll stay at the Sheraton Manhattan. Are there places

close by to have breakfast at a moderate price? I know

it would be expensive to eat at the hotel every morning.

Thanks for your help -- and if there is anything else you think I

should know about I'd welcome the information.

Can you help me with plans for my NYC vacation?oper

I live in NYC btw.

1. a metro card is a card you purchase to enter the subway system, each time you go inside a trin station, you must swipe your metrocard, each ride is a dollar (if you have to switch trains without leaving the stations you dont pay).

you can also buy unlimited metrocards (either for a day, a week or a month)

2. i dont go to plays to much, but since those plays have been around for so long, i dont think so.

3.- oh no, nonono, it gets up to 100, last summer's record temperature was 105. NYC isnt a humid plays, its actually the opposite, unless there is a storm or something.

4.- i dont know when you are coming. but...

january-march: really good jackets that keep you warn, a hat and gloves, and maybe so long underpants.

march and april: lighter jackets.

may and june: short sleeves and you cant alternate between jeans and shoets.

june-august: most definately shorts, very light clothers.

september-october: light jackets

november-december: heavier jackets.

5.- in manhattan, there are alwys places to eat breakfast, trust me, but manhattan is more expensive than the suburbs. but there are still moderate prices, and the food is always good.

recomendations: ALWAYS ask for directions if you are lost, both manhattan and the subway station could be quite confusing.

carry a subway map with you, you'll need it.

have lots of fun. =)

Can you help me with plans for my NYC vacation?hollywood theater opera theaterThis answer is wrong. The fair for the metro is $2.00. I live in New York as well. Report It

A metro card is also used for buses. Report It

Other than this, the best answer is pretty good. Report It

Get advanced tickets to the shows, it's recommended. It's usually very humid in July. There are no moderate prices in Manhattan, don't look for bargains, everything is very expensive. I used to live nearby.
1. You use the metrocard for the subway since they no longer sell tokens.

2. If you want to get the good seats then it is recommended to get advance tickets.

3. It's really HOT in July...it's usually in the upper 90's and very humid!!

4. Try to wear loose, light clothing.

5. There are lots and lots of places to eat in Manhattan that has great prices. Don't worry.
I'm going to Manhattan in June for four days!! Exciting isn't it?!!

I've heard don't wear solid black (for walking around) and don't wear brand new bright white sneakers (glaringly "tourist").

I've also heard it is hot and humid in NYC in summer. :)

Have fun! I'm excited for you!
5 - if you want a waitress, go to Applejack Diner on 55th and Broadway. If you don't care, go to any of the little deli/sandwich shops you'll see on 7th or Broadway. You order eggs, bagels etc from a counter and its real cheap. I recommend Crown Gourmet at 52nd and Broadway and they have seats upstairs once you get your food.

Have fun.
I've been reading questions asked by others and the answers you've given have put new questions in my mind.

1. it's like a prepaid phone/credit card, but for the subway. you swipe it in a turnstile to take a train. you pick the amount of rides you would like when you buy the card, then use it over and over till it runs out. you can buy these inside the subway stations, at metro card machines.

2. yes they usually sell out. get advanced tickets. if you can't you can always try standing in the broadway ticket line in times square the day of the show. call telecharge for more details.

3. heck yeah it's hooooot. and humid. be prepared.

4. well, jeans are thick, so they won't be as good as capris to prevent getting hot. wear capris, flip flops are often worn - although i don't like them b/c your heels get dirty from the street - and tank tops are ok. just nothing too revealing - use common sense. a light jacket in case you go into an air conditioned place should be ok to carry in a bag.

5. sure there are. there's food everywhereeeeeeee.

BRING AN UMBRELLA

try not to shop in times square - it's a rip off. and don;t buy any electronics from any of those little places. they are usually junk and won't refund.

have fun!

THE HUGEE ABERCOMBIE %26amp; FITCH STORE

ITS AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGG
The weather could be in 80s and sometimes it is humid and sometimes not, depends on the day. Both jeans and capris would be a good idea. Also, they have river cruises on the Hudson that are worthwhile to do, it tours around Manhattan.

I live in N.J. but dont get over there too often to help you with the rest, but I hope you have a great time and welcome to the city.
